Thoughts about 2 Corinthians 13:5

Examine your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you? 2Cor. 13:5

Today more than ever, we need to look at ourselves and make sure that we are not getting sucked in by the craziness that surrounds us. The human mind is too quickly following the herd instinct. Today, whether I look to the left or the right, the reactions are canned and fall into a pattern of no rational thinking. The touchiness of the subject of this time is sad, but it is also a good place to be. If we wouldn’t be tempted, we wouldn’t be able to see our shortcomings. Let us be careful not just to react; let us ask ourselves and God these questions.

Do I hear what somebody else says, or do I hear by the translation of my own mind?

Could I be set up for failure because I live by religious rules instead of the everyday guidance of the Holy Spirit?

Am I free to follow Christ? Am I on the narrow path? What could be in the way? Am I in the faith?

Test your own selves is how the Scripture continues.
