Be careful what you speak; there is power in your words.

Some people have the same things happening to them over and over again. There’s a possibility that they are speaking certain situations on themselves. (I’m always getting sick - Just my luck – If it’s not one thing, it’s another – and so forth). On the other hand, if spoken in faith, our words may call good things into existence, and we will eat its fruit. Be mindful of your words; your life depends on it!

This is a small collection of Scripture describing the power of the spoken word.

If you’re not up to much reading, I encourage you to take a quick run-through, only reading the bold text. I pray you will realize the power that has been given to us. Let’s use it wisely!

Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening, he shall have whatever he says. Mark 11:23

He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Proverbs 13:3

In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely. Proverbs 10:19

There is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals. Proverbs 12:18

Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29

Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23

That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man. Matthew 15:11

So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest! And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by hell. For every kind of animal, bird, creeping thing, and sea creature is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind; but nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. James 3:5-8

Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt; for the tree is known by its fruit. You offspring of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things. I tell you that every idle word that men speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. Matthew 12:33-37

These are not recommendations, but divine warnings. The power of the word is real!
