Thoughts about Colossians 3:16

This is the NGU-DE version translated into English. I love it for this particular verse because it sounds so rich.

Let the message of Christ unfold its full riches within you. Teach one another ‘the doctrine of Christ’ and show one another the right path; do it with all the wisdom that God has given you. Sing psalms, hymns, and Spirit-inspired songs; sing it gratefully and from the bottom of your heart to the glory of God. Col. 3:16

Let the message of Christ unfold made me think of a fragrance that permeates the air and reaches as far as the airflow lets it go, into every little crevice. Show each other the way; do it with the complete wisdom that you received from God. Not with partial wisdom, not with common sense, not with personal experience, but with all of His wisdom provision. First it takes time to recall it, and it also takes the Holy Spirit back up for verification. So, it will always take a moment to reflect before answering, other than when The Holy Spirit pours it out through you. On the other hand, be always willing to receive advice, even if you already know, and do not be huffy about it; God hates pride.

Sing Psalms, songs of praise, worship, and Holy Spirit-inspired outbursts of joy and thanksgiving, prayer and lamentation with no intact melody, all flowing freely from the heart. And make sure whichever you choose, sing it thankfully and from the bottom of your heart. The last part, the bottom of the heart, makes me think of breathing. You go to the doctor, and he says, “Take a deep breath.” What do you do? You pretty sure exhale as strongly as you inhaled. It should be the same way when something comes from the bottom of the heart. The more profound, the further out it shall reach…. Shout! Expressing the deepest, most intimate feelings you have for God, condensed and loaded!

If we do all that, we indeed do it to the glory of God!

May your day be filled with the truth of this verse.
